The Fugue uses three subjects, one sewn from the opening notes of the Bromage motto, the second based on the DIES IRAE theme, and the third engineered from B-A-C-H in a skittish motor mechanism. It is inevitable that the Bromage and Bach subjects clash mightily, ultimately resolving on a B-A-C-H chordal flourish ending in, of course, B Major.
